Day 1. We've picked up our 2014 F350 SuperDuty 4x4 Powerstroke Diesel this past Saturday. We couldn't wait to start tearing it down and begin the project. How crazy is it that people like us, take a truck with 16 miles and go to town disassembling it! But we are Motorsports Authority, and custom is what we do.
Today, we disassembled the front suspension. We took out the spring and the shock to get a good glance at some approximate numbers. What we are looking at is, when we replace the springs with air bags, at approximately what height will be the truck's resting point. From here we can decide the wheel and tire combination to achieve our goals and if any other suspension components were in the way or in a bind. We can then decide from there, what we have to cut, purchase, or build to accomplish the look we are setting for the truck.

The results were about a 4" drop in the front. We also have to keep in mind that when we drop the rear, the angle will change, creating a slight change in the height up front. That number is still unacceptable for our purposes. So, it appears we will be doing some frame modifications allowing us to not only tuck the wheels and tires but also retain our 4x4 capabilities. Tomorrow we will come up with a strategy and discuss options with our suspension sponsors on accomplishing our goals. To be continued...
